Spain’s story is always told with unending creativity through its remarkable arts and architecture. This is a reason that places in Spain has always fascinated tourists. I got addicted to this diverse land after making a trip to its major cities. A query about where to Visit in Spain will be well answered after knowing about these ten great places that took me by storm.

1. Alhambra

It is a fortress that was built in 10th century and its Moorish architectural style makes it one of the top attractions in Spain. My recommendation is to equip yourself with a comfortable pair of shoes. Here you will have to walk a lot . Furthermore, the fact description by the local guide is really interesting.

2. Mezquita of Cordoba

Mezquita-Catedral that is known as Mezquita of Cordoba in Spanish. It is a beautiful cathedral situated in the Andalusian city of Cordoba. Having been built in Moorish architecture style, this building has been used for  various purposes throughout history. It was originally used as a pagan temple, then as a mosque and now it serves as a Roman Catholic Church.

3. Picasso Museum

Picasso Museum is one of the most visited museum. It holds  3,8000 paintings of Picasso that draw a huge number of visitors.  I am a big fan of Picasso and visiting this museum was the first thing that popped up when I considered where to visit in Spain. Moreover, it is not a bad deal to view such a large collection paying just €9 entrance fee.

4. Caves of Drach

The most impressive site of Porto Cristo, the Caves of Drach comprise of four caves. You will admire it more when know the fact that these caves are made of stalagmites, stalactites and semi-precious agates. The flying lights throughout the caves guide the way and make the whole scene more eye-catching.

5. El Escorial

Located at almost 28 miles from the capital of Madrid, El Escorial is a residence of the King of Spain. You can also find it with its name The Royal Seat of San Lorenzo de El Escorial. The details of its Design and Conception are mind boggling. Definitely it is a wonderful deal to view this World Heritage Site spending only €8 per person. You will know the royal life style here by viewing basilica and the marble Pantheon de los Reyes.

6. The Gothic Quarter

Build in Medieval times, the Gothic Quarter is one of Barcelona’s most evocative neighborhoods. It reminds the Medieval times when we look at its building structure. The interesting description of local guides here shows a picture of Barcelona’s dark side.

7. Barcelona

Not only Barcelona is the second largest city of Spain but it is also the capital of Catalonia. Its eye catching scenes prove that it is really one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Moreover, its historical sites like Casa Batlló or the Facade of the Nativity and crypt of the Sagrada Familia and Park Güell are world famous. Barcelona includes in UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

8. Montserrat

This multi peaked mountain, Montserrat is located 30 miles towards North of Barcelona. You will find interesting sites here. Benedict monastery, a statue of Catalonia’s patron and La Moreneta, or The Black Virgin are more famous. When you start gathering travel information about where to visit in Spain, lot of places would crop up in the list. However, always be selective about top attractions to save your time and money.

9. Toledo

Toward south of Madrid at almost one hour drive you will reach Toledo. This city is a home of three major religions: Judaism, Islam and Catholicism. Although overall 80% of Spain population (46 million) declare themselves as Catholic. Visiting sacred worship places of all these three religions gives a wonderful experience. This city is also a former capital of Spanish empire. Its wide-ranging cultural and colossal heritage made it a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986.

The largest theme park of Spain, Port Aventura Park, gives a chance to visit China, the Wild West or Mexico at one place. You can reach here alone as well as with family. Having rides here gives a wonderful experience.
